Super League 2025 – Semi-Finals preview, predictions and tips

It’s do-or-die time this week for the final four in Super League as they do battle for a place in the Grand Final. Old Trafford awaits next weekend for Wigan or Leigh and Hull KR or St. Helens, as the season draws to a an exciting end.
In another example of there never being a dull moment in Rugby League, the Leopards actually threatened to pull out of this week’s game due to a row over their ticket allocation. Thankfully, that only ever appeared to be an idle threat, and all it’s done is add a bit more spice to the ‘battle of the borough’.
No such dramas in the other semi-final, although we can still expect a few fireworks on the field when Hull KR chase a second-straight Grand Final appearance against a Saints side, who are chasing their 15th Old Trafford appearance.
It promises to be two very exciting clashes, so let’s take a closer look at the runners and riders this weekend…
*All odds are taken from Paddy Power and correct at time of writing on 3rd October 2025.
Friday 3rd October – Wigan Warriors vs Leigh Leopards – The Brick Community Stadium
Form guide
Wigan had the week off last weekend on account of their 2nd-placed finish in the regular season. They ended the year with five straight victories, conceding just 22 points in the process as they eye up a third-straight Grand Final victory.
The Leopards eased past Wakefield in their elimination final last weekend with a 26-10 win. That victory followed an impressive end to the regular season of their own as they also picked up five straight wins to secure 3rd spot.
Team news
Wigan have named an unchanged squad from their 22-6 win over Leeds in Round 27.
Leigh have also named an unchanged squad after coming through their elimnation final against Wakefield with no injuries or suspensions.
My prediction – Wigan Warriors 18-10 Leigh Leopards
This should be much closer than Wigan’s 38-0 thumping of their neighbours at the same stage last year, but I still can’t see past the Warriors. They’ve timed their form just right for antother Grand Final tilt and they’ll be fresher for having the week off. All the off-field shenanigans this week won’t have caused them too much of a distraction either, but they might have affected Leigh a little.
Betting tips
There’s some great value in the anytime try market this week with no one priced lower than 7/5, so I’m jumping straight on Liam Marshall and Jai Field at that price. I’m also backing Wigan to win by 8-14 points, at 12/5.
Saturday 4th October – Hull KR vs St. Helens – Sewell Group Craven Park
Form guide
The Robins had the weekend off last time out after claiming the League Leaders’ Shield. They finished the regular season with three wins and two defeats from their final five games, but a 28-20 victory over Warrington in Round 27 secured the LLS.
St. Helens were victorious in one of the most dramatic finishes of all time last weekend, as they squeezed past Leeds Rhinos, 14-16. They won just one of their final four games of the regular season – a narrow 26-24 victory over Castleford – to end the year in 4th.
Team news
Joe Burgess and Micky McIlorum are available for Hull KR this week. Their inclusions see Bill Leyland and Noah Booth drop out of the squad.
St. Helens make one change to their squad from last weekend’s dramatic win over Leeds. Kyle Feldt drops out, with Jake Wingfield taking his place.
My prediction – Hull KR 38-6 St. Helens
This might be a little bold, but I just have a feeling the Robins could run riot in this one. Saints have had an underwhelming season by their standards and they were incredibly lucky to get past Leeds last week, with the RFL even admitting that Jon Bennison’s try shouldn’t have stood. They’ve done well to get this far, but this is where their year ends.
Betting tips
I’m happy to back Hull KR with a -10 handicap at 10/11. There’s good value in the anytime try markets again as well, so take your pick from Joe Burgess and Tom Davies at 5/4. I’ll be getting on both.
