Super League 2026 – Round 27 preview, predictions and tips
It’s the final round of the regular season this week and where has the time gone? Eight clubs will see their year come to an end this week, and for the first time in Super League history, St Helens will be one of them.
Wigan should claim the League Leaders’ Shield after their thumping win over Leeds last week, but maybe there could be a late sting in the tail.
There are some dead rubbers in there too, and before I get into the predictions, a special mention to all those players retiring after this weekend. The likes of Paul Vaughan, Tommy Makinson, Jonny Lomax and Mark Percival will all bring the curtain down on their stellar careers this week, and I know there are more that I’ve missed.

Thursday 10th September – York Knights vs Bradford Bulls
Form guide
York ended a run of four straight losses with a 28-16 win at Catalans Dragons last weekend. They’re 10th heading into the final weekend, which is as high as they can finish.
Bradford ended a run of seven straight losses with a 32-22 win over Castleford Tigers last week. They’re 14th heading into this week, but a victory’s likely to see them climb off the bottom.

My prediction – York Knights 28-20 Bradford Bulls
Whatever happens this week, both of these sides can be very proud of their seasons. York come into the game with eight wins, while Bradford have seven, so they’ve both been competitive following promotion. This game could go either way, but I’m leaning towards the home team here.
Betting tips
I’m starting with a bit of an outsider and backing Paul Vaughan to finish off his stellar career with an anytime try when the market opens. I’m tipping David Nofoaluma for an anytime try too.
Friday 11th September – Leeds Rhinos vs Hull FC
Form guide
Leeds were given a pasting last week, as Wigan’s 40-8 win at Headingley knocked them off top spot. They’re still assured of 2nd and a week off though, unless there’s a record-breaking points swing.
Despite a strong second half effort, Hull FC were beaten 44-30 by Toulouse last weekend. They’re 12th and level on points with bottom-placed Bradford, but even a heavy loss won’t see them pick up the wooden spoon, thanks to their superior points difference.

My prediction – Leeds Rhinos 42-10 Hull FC
The Rhinos will be smarting after last week’s loss to Wigan, so they’ll want to finish the regular season on a high. They still have a chance of winning the League Leaders’ Shield as well, so they need the two points here.
Betting tips
I think Leeds will fill their boots here, so I’m backing Maika Sivo and Brodie Croft for anytime tries when the market opens. If Sivo misses out again, I’ll back Harry Newman instead.
Friday 11th September – Leigh Leopards vs Wakefield Trinity
Form guide
Leigh put the final nail in St Helens’ coffin last week with a big 48-10 win over the Saints. They’re 5th, but a big win will see them leapfrog Trinity into 4th.
After a recent dip in form, Wakefield’s 25-18 win over Warrington last week made it back-to-back victories. A big enough win could see them finish in 3rd, but a heavy defeat would see them slip to 5th.

My prediction – Leigh Leopards 24-18 Wakefield Trinity
On the one hand this is a dead rubber, but on the other, both sides will be looking to lay down a marker heading into the play-offs. Either side could win this, but I’m edging towards the home side.
Betting tips
I’ll back Umyla Hanley for an anytime try again here when the market opens. I think it’ll be quite close, so I’ll also back the Leopards to win by 1-7 points, which is 4/1.
Friday 11th September – Warrington Wolves vs Toulouse Olympique
Form guide
Warrington’s 25-18 loss at Wakefield last week ended a run of six straight wins. They remain 3rd, but Wakefield could still overtake them if the Wire lose here and Trinity beat Leigh.
Toulouse’s return to Super League has been a stunning success, and their 44-30 win over Hull FC last weekend made it three victories in a row. They’ve climbed to 8th, and the worst they’ll do is 9th.

My prediction – Warrington Wolves 12-20 Toulouse Olympique
With Warrington naming a weakened squad, I’m backing Toulouse to cause a bit of an upset. A defeat won’t be catastrophic for the Wire, and it gives some of their big names a chance to rest up ahead of next week.
Betting tips
Unsurprisingly Warrington are favourites, so I’m getting on a Toulouse win at 13/8. It’ll need to be quick though, as I can see the odds changing closer to kick-off. I’ll back Paul Ulberg for an anytime try when the market opens as well.
Friday 11th September – St Helens vs Hull KR
Form guide
St Helens’ 48-10 loss at Leigh last week was the final nail in their coffin as a top six spot became out of reach. It’ll be the first year in Super League history they’ve failed to make the play-offs.
Hull KR did what they needed to do with a 36-6 win over Huddersfield Giants to secure their top six spot. Any kind of win here coupled with a Leigh loss will see them leapfrog the Leopards into 5th.

My prediction – St Helens 34-8 Hull KR
With Hull KR naming a very under-strength squad here, Saints should end a miserable year on a bit of a high.
Betting tips
Saints have been given a -36 handicap. It should be fine, but I still can’t bring myself to back them with that. Instead, I’m tipping Mark Percival to sign off his career with a try, and I’ll back Harry Robertson for an anytime score.
Friday 11th September – Wigan Warriors vs Catalans Dragons
Form guide
Wigan made a big statement in their 40-8 win at Leeds last weekend. The victory saw them go top, and it extended their winning run to 14 games in Super League and 15 overall.
Catalans were beaten 28-16 by York as their sorry season continued to limp towards the end. The loss also saw them slip to 9th, but a victory here could see them get back into 8th.

My prediction – Wigan Warriors 52-10 Catalans Dragons
I’m expecting the Warriors to finish their regular season in style here and take out the League Leaders’ Shield. Catalans have had a poor campaign and they’ll just be relieved when the final whistle goes.
Betting tips
I’m not even hesitating at Wigan’s -32 handicap, which is 10/11. I’ll back Jai Field for an anytime try when the market opens as well.
Saturday 12th September – Huddersfield Giants vs Castleford Tigers
Form guide
The Giants were beaten 36-6 at Hull KR last time out as their upturn in form has stalled a little. They sit 13th, and only a huge points swing will see them finish bottom. A victory could see them finish as high as 10th.
It’s been a forgettable year for the Tigers, whose 32-22 loss at Bradford last week was their third in a row. They’re 11th, but with both the worst defence and the worst attack in the league, they could still finish bottom.
Team news
Squads haven’t been announced yet, but Huddersfield will be without Sam Halsall and Mathieu Cozza. Halsall suffered a suspected broken leg last week, while Cozza failed his HIA.
Castleford are likely to be without Renouf Atoni, who pulled out during the warm-up last week.
My prediction – Huddersfield Giants 30-16 Castleford Tigers
Both of these teams will be happy to bring the curtain down on their season this weekend. The Giants have at least shown signs of life with five wins in their last seven games. I’m backing them to sign off from the Accu Stadium with another two points here.
Betting tips
There’s not much tempting me here at all, but Lewis Jagger and Jacob Gagai will be my anytime try picks when the market opens.
