Super League 2025 – Round 26 preview, predictions and tips

Super League 2025 – Round 26 preview, predictions and tips

Just two rounds left to go in Super League, and while some sides have already booked their holidays, there’s still plenty left to play for.

Hull KR can mathematically clinch the League Leaders’ Shield this weekend. Meanwhile, Wakefield’s shock loss at Castleford last week means the battle between them and Hull FC for the final play-off spot could go down to the final weekend.

It’s all shaping up to be an exciting last couple of rounds, starting with a chance for the Rhinos to soar into the top two…

*All odds are taken from Paddy Power and correct at time of writing on 10th September 2025.

Thursday 11th September – Leeds Rhinos vs Catalans Dragons – AMT Headingley Stadium

Form guide

The Rhinos are the form side in the Super League heading into the play-offs. Their 0-26 win at Huddersfield last week was their fifth victory in a row, and they haven’t conceded a point in either of the last two games. A win here could move them up into 2nd ahead of Wigan’s game on Friday.

The Dragons scraped past Salford, 16-17, last weekend, which made it two wins from their past three games. They remain in 9th, and barring any miracles over the last two rounds of the year, that’s where they’ll stay.

Team news

Two huge returns for the Rhinos this week, with Tom Holroyd and Keanan Palasia back from injury. Max Simpson is also back in the squad after missing out with concussion last week. Jake Connor will sit this one out to rest a rib injury, while Presley Cassell and Zak Lloyd also drop out.

Catalans Dragons have made seven changes to their squad from last weekend. Tariq Sims, Fouad Yaha, Julian Bousquet, Luke Keary, Tommy Makinson, Tanguy Zénon and Léo Darrélatour come in. Alrix Da Costa, Franck Maria, Tevita Pangai Jr, Matthieu Laguerre, Lenny Marc, Giovanni Descalzi and Denive Balmforth all drop out.

My prediction – Leeds Rhinos 48-6 Catalans Dragons

I fear for Catalans in this one. The Rhinos are in red-hot form and the Dragons’ season has been over for weeks. This could be a long night for the French side.

Betting tips

Leeds have been given a -30 handicap, while a 15+ victory is 1/8, so there’s not much value to be had in these markets. Instead, I’ll be going with anytime tryscorers again, and Harry Newman and Chris Hankinson are both 4/5, which looks ok to me.

Friday 12th September – Wigan Warriors vs Castleford Tigers – The Brick Community Stadium

Form guide

Wigan picked up a massive two points last weekend, as they beat biggest rivals, St. Helens, 4-18. That made it three straight victories for the Warriors, who haven’t conceded more than four points in any of those victories.

Meanwhile, Castleford, pulled off a shock, impressive win over local rivals Wakefield. Their 26-22 win ended a run of five straight defeats, and the Tigers will now be looking to hold onto 10th spot.

Team news

Just one change to Wigan’s squad this week woth Patrick Mago returning from a failed HIA in place of Adam Keighran.

Three changes for Castleford this week, with Jason Qareqare, Zac Cini and Jenson Windley all available again. Jeremiah Simbiken is banned, Hugo Salabio has been recalled from his loan spell by Hull FC, while Alfie Lindsey is left out.

My prediction – Wigan Warriors 36-4 Castleford Tigers

Despite an impressive win last week, I can’t see the Tigers backing up again this weekend. Wigan have been in good form recently, particularly in defence, so I’d expect them to pick up a fairly comfortable win.

Betting tips

Wigan have been given a -32 handicap here and they’re 1/100 in the outright market, so I won’t bother with either of those. Instead, I’ll be getting on Liam Marshall and Bevan French for anytime tries when the market opens, but I’m not expecting great odds.

Friday 12th September – Leigh Leopards vs St. Helens – Leigh Sports Village

Form guide

Leigh cruised past Warrington in a routine 12-34 away win last weekend. That made it three straight victories for the Leopards, who can secure a top 4 finish with a win this week.

A win for Saints would put them hot on Leigh’s heels. They currently sit one place and three points behind the Leopards after their 4-18 home loss to rivals Wigan last weekend.

Team news

Just the one change this week for Leigh. Joe Ofahengaue returns from injury in place of Tesi Niu, who failed an HIA last week against Warrington.

St. Helens make three changes. George Delaney is back from a ban, Jon Bennison has returned from a loan spell at Widnes, while Shane Wright is available after injury and could make his debut following his arrival from Salford last month. Leon Cowen, Jake Davies and Cole Marsh drop out.

My prediction – Leigh Leopards 28-16 St. Helens

Leigh should be sniffing blood in this one. Saints have had an ok season, but they’ve struggled a bit against their play-off rivals and the Leopards should be looking to take full advantage this weekend.

Betting tips

I like the look of Leigh with a -6 handicap at 10/11. They’re also 1/1 in the half-time/full-time market, which also looks good.

Saturday 13th September – Wakefield Trinity vs Hull KR- DIY Kitchens Stadium

Form guide

Wakefield suffered a surprise loss at neighbours Castleford last weekend to leave their top six hopes looking precarious. The good news for Trinity, is that their fate’s still in their own hands, and two wins will secure their place in the play-offs. The bad news is the first of those two games is against the league leaders…

Hull KR, whose 18-4 win over closest rivals Hull FC last weekend has left them with one hand firmly on the League Leaders’ Shield. Only a monumental points swing in the next two games will stop the Robins from getting their hands on the shield, but a win this week would gurantee they lift their second piece of silverware in 2025.

Team news

Squads haven’t been announced for this one yet, but Wakefield will be sweating on the fitness of Lachlan Walmsley after he left the field early last week. Josh Rourke is likely to continue at fullback in place of Max Jowitt after a two-try display against Castleford.

Wakefield announced the departures of six players earlier this week.

Hull KR coach Willie Peters has confirmed that Joe Burgess and Oliver Gildart will be available again this week, with Sauaso Sue also a possibility to return.

Oliver Gildart should return this week for the Robins.

My prediction – Wakefield Trinity 10-22 Hull KR

I’m fully expecting a Hull KR win in this one, but Wakefield should make life a bit tough for them and a reaction is needed after last week’s shock loss to Castleford.

Betting tips

Hull KR are 4/6 in the half-time/full-time market, which isn’t bad odds for something I’d expect to see. I’ll also be getting on Tom Davies in the anytime try market when it opens.

Saturday 13th September – Hull FC vs Warrington Wolves – MKM Stadium

Form guide

Hull FC were beaten 18-4 by neighbours Hull KR last weekend, but it was a spirited display from the injury-depleted Black and Whites. Their top six chances are out of their hands, but with two very winnable games left, and Wakefield facing the league leaders this week, there’s still every chance FC could make the play-offs. They currently sit in 7th – one point outside the top six.

Warrington are just one place below them, but it’s the five-point gap that really tells the story. The Wire have been out of contention for a number of weeks, and last week’s 12-34 loss at home to Leigh was a sixth defeat in seven games for Sam Burgess’ men.

Team news

Again, squads haven’t been announced yet, but Hull FC have lost four players to suspension this week. Jack Ashworth has been handed a huge seven-match ban for elbowing Mikey Lewis in last week’s derby.

Meanwhile, Yusuf Aydin and Amir Bourouh have both been given one-game bans, while Jordan Rapana has been banned for two. With Rapana retiring at the end of the year, he’ll be hoping more than most that his teammates can get into the top six, otherwise he’s already played his final career game.

Hugo Salabio and Denive Balmforth are likely to come into the squad after being recalled from loan.

Hull FC’s Jack Ashworth was banned for seven games earlier this week.

As for Warrington, they lost Leon Hayes to a suspected broken arm last weekend in what was just his second appearance in more than a year following injury.

Leon Hayes’ year looks set to be over after suffering a suspected broken arm last weekend.

My prediction – Hull FC 24-10 Warrington Wolves

Despite all the players they’ve got missing, I can’t see the Black and Whites missing the chance to potentially climb into the top six this weekend. The Wire have had a dreadful year, and there’s no reason to think they’ll suddenly put in a performance this week when they’ve got nothing to play for.

Betting tips

I’m getting on Hull FC to win by 8-14 points here, at 10/3. I’m backing Lewis Martin for an anytime try as well.

Sunday 14th September – Huddersfield Giants vs Salford Red Devils – ACCU Stadium

Form guide

Every time Huddersfield look as though they might be turning a corner, they suffer another big loss. Last week’s 0-26 defeat at home to Leeds followed a 48-2 thrasing at Wakefield a week earlier, but in Round 23 they were brilliant in a 23-10 home win over Warrington. The Giants can hardly be described as inconsistent though, as just six wins all year means they’re down in 11th, but they can still climb a place to 10th.

As for Salford, it’s just a relief that they’re likely to fulfil their fixtures, but their performances have been superb in recent weeks. They were agonisingly beaten 16-17 at home by Cayalans last weekend, having beaten Warrington the previous week. For all their struggles, they’ve still managed the same number of wins (3) that Hull FC and London Broncos did last year.

Team news

Jack Billington failed his HIA for Huddersfield last week, so he’s immediately ruled out. Taane Milne will be available again after serving a suspension last week.

Taane Milne is available after suspension for the Giants this week.

Salford will definitely be without Emmanuel Waine after he was brutally knocked out last week against Catalans. He suffered a broken jaw, so his year’s over. Loghan Lewis also failed an HIA in that game, so he’ll miss out this week as well.

Emmanuel Waine’s year is over after suffering a broken jaw last weekend.

My prediction – Huddersfield Giants 22-18 Salford Red Devils

Considering these are the bottom two sides in the league, this might just be the most intriguing game of the lot this weekend. It really could go either way, but I’m edging towards the Giants.

Betting tips

As is customary for Salford games, no markets are open at all yet, and it might remain that way. If they do open up, I’ll be getting on the Giants’ George Flanagan for an anytime try.
