Super League 2025 – Round 25 preview, predictions and tips

There are just three games to go in the regular season, and there’s still plenty to play for. Hull KR have one hand on the League Leaders’ Shield, but any slip-ups could see Wigan take advantage.
If the Warriors slip-up themselves, then Leeds are right on their tails ready to snatch 2nd spot, while Leigh and St. Helens are just behind them.
And as for the 6th and final play-off spot, it’s a straight shootout between Wakefield and Hull FC, with Trinity holding the advantage. It promises to be an exciting final three rounds, starting with a rare Thursday night double-header…

Thursday 4th September – Huddersfield Giants vs Leeds Rhinos – ACCU Stadium
Form guide
After an impressive win over Warrington in Round 23, the Giants came back down to Earth with a bump last week as they were hammered 48-2 by Wakefield. They remain in 10th heading into the final three rounds.
Leeds’ impressive march towards the play-offs continued last weekend as they demolished Hull FC, 0-34, away from home. That made it four straight wins for the Rhinos, who remain on Wigan’s tails in the battle for 2nd.
Team news
Taane Milne is suspended for Huddersfield this week, while Oliver Wilson and Matty English drop out with injuries. Leroy Cudjoe is also missing due to a bereavement. Youngsters Logan Blacker and Leo Ward come into the squad.
Joe Shorrocks is suspended for the Rhinos, while Max Simpson misses out through concussion. Zak Lloyd and Riley Lumb come into the 21-man-squad.
My prediction – Huddersfield Giants 6-30 Leeds Rhinos
It’s hard to see anything other than a comfortable away win in this one. The Giants have had their moments recently, but Leeds are on form and won’t be in any mood to let a game like this slip through their fingers.
Betting tips
There aren’t many markets open for this game yet and the ones that are don’t offer much value at all. I’ll be waiting for the anytime try markets, and Lachlan Miller and Ryan Hall would be my picks for Leeds.
Thursday 4th September – Salford Red Devils vs Catalans Dragons – Salford Community Stadium
Form guide
Salford pulled off one of the biggest shocks in Super League history last weekend as they beat Warrington 12-25 at the Halliwell Jones. That win put them on six points, and for all their problems this year, that’s the same number that Hull FC and London Broncos managed in 2024.
Catalans, meanwhile, were beaten 4-40 at home by Wigan last weekend. The French side remain 9th, but they may need a win here to ensure Huddersfield don’t overtake them in the remaining games.
Team news
Salford have Esan Marsters available again after injury, but loanee Louix Gorman drops out of the squad this week. Jayden Nikorima also drops out, but another loanee, Emmanuel Waine, is named. Isaac Shaw is one of nine loanees in the squad, and if he plays this week he’ll be the 71st player to represent the club this season.
Four changes this week for Catalans Dragons, with Clément Martin, Lenny Marc, Théo Fages and Giovanni Descalzi coming in for Tariq Sims, Fouad Yaha, Oliver Partington and Luke Keary.
My prediction – Salford Red Devils 10-28 Catalans Dragons
The Dragons should have too much for Salford, but after the Red Devils’ win last week and Catalans’ own terrible run of form, this might not be as much of a foregone conclusion as it should be.
Betting tips
No markets are open for this one at all yet, but I’d expect them to come around closer to kick-off. It’s difficult to know what the handicap will be here, so I’ll go with anytime tryscorers again, and Guillermo Aispuro-Bichet and Reimis Smith will be my go-tos for the Dragons.
Friday 5th September – St. Helens vs Wigan Warriors – Totally Wicked Stadium
Form guide
Saints were beaten 12-8 in a close contest at Hull KR last weekend, which has dropped them to 5th. With the table so tight though, they can go two points behind this week’s opponents, Wigan, with a win.
As for Wigan, they picked up a routine 4-40 win at Catalans last week, which followed a routine 44-2 win over Wakefield the previous week. This will be a much sterner test of where the Warriors are at heading into the play-offs though.
Team news
St. Helens make two changes to their squad this week. George Delaney is suspended and Morgan Knowles is out with concussion. Kyle Feldt returns from a concussion of his own, while Cole Marsh is included in a senior squad for the first time.
Wigan make three changes to their squad this week. Luke Thompson is back after a seven-match absence, Ethan Havard returns from suspension and Abbas Miski comes back in after injury. Patrick Mago drops out due to a failed HIA last weekend, and youngsters Kian McDermott and Harvey Makin are also out of the squad.
My prediction – St. Helens 6-14 Wigan Warriors
This should be a really tight game between two sides with genuine ambitions of winning the Grand Final in a few weeks’ time. I’m leaning towards the Warriors though, as they’re a bit closer to full strength than Saints.
Betting tips
I’m happy to punt on Wigan with a -2 handicap at 10/11. As I’m expecting a close game, I really like the look of a draw/Wigan in the half-time/full-time market as well, which is an enormous 14/1.
Friday 5th September- Castleford Tigers vs Wakefield Trinity – OneBore Stadium
Form guide
It’s five straight defeats for Castleford following last week’s 46-6 thrashing at Leigh. They haven’t scored more than six points in any of those games either, and they remain down in 11th.
Wakefield, meanwhile, bounced back from a heavy loss at Wigan to destroy Huddersfield, 48-2, last weekend. The victory lifted them into 6th at the expense of Hull FC in the battle for the final play-off spot.
Team news
Just one change for Castleford this week with Sam Wood replacing the injured Tom Amone.
Wakefield make two changes to their squad this week. Isaiah Vagana is ruled out through injury and Noah High also drops out. Lachlan Walmsley returns after being rested last week, while Jack Croft is back after returning from a loan spell at Salford.
My prediction – Castleford Tigers 6-36 Wakefield Trinity
I’m expecting Wakefield to pick up a comfortable win in this one. With Hull FC facing a tough away day this weekend, Trinity have the perfect opportunity to open up a gap on their play-off rival, and they shouldn’t let this one slip.
Betting tips
Wakefield should be safe with a -18 handicap at 10/11. The tryscoring markets aren’t open yet, but I’d expect Caius Faatili to be good value for an anytime try, so I’m tipping him. The big prop has eight already this year for Trinity.
Saturday 6th September – Warrington Wolves vs Leigh Leopards – Halliwell Jones Stadium
Form guide
Warrington suffered a humiliating 12-25 loss at home to Salford last weekend. That defeat ended any faint hopes the Wire had of making the top six, and they look destined to finish the year in 8th.
It’s far more exciting times for Leigh, whose 46-6 win over Castleford has them sitting pretty in 4th. That made it back-to-back wins, and they’ve scored 84 points in those two matches, while conceding just 12.
Team news
Squads haven’t been announced for this game yet, but Warrington will be without skipper George Williams, who has a shoulder injury. Paul Vaughan is also unlikely to feature due to a calf injury, and Ewan Smith won’t play either after failing his HIA last week.
Leigh coach Adrian Lam gave a positive update this week on three of his injured forwards. Owen Trout, Joe Ofahengaue and Ethan O’Neill are all likely to be back before the end of the year, with Ofahengaue and O’Neill rated 50/50 for this week.
My prediction – Warrington Wolves 12-24 Leigh Leopards
I’d expect some sort of reaction from Warrington this week, but they have nothing to play for and the Leopards are on a roll heading into the play-offs, so they should come through this one with a win.
Betting tips
Tryscoring markets aren’t open yet, but I’ll be getting on Keanan Brand and Umyla Hanley for Leigh. In the match result market, they’re just 1/4, and the -10 handicap might be touch and go with the Wire looking to end their home campaign on a bit of a high.
Sunday 7th September – Hull KR vs Hull FC – Sewell Group Craven Park
Form guide
Hull KR took another step towards the League Leaders’ Shield with a 12-8 win over St. Helens last weekend. They can’t seal the crown this week, but if they win and Wigan lose, it’ll just be points difference that can stop them, and theirs is far superior to the Warriors’.
As for Hull FC, they need to bounce back quickly if they’re to stay in the hunt for the top six. Their 0-34 loss at home to Leeds last week saw them swap places with Wakefield, and with only three games left to go they can’t afford any more slip-ups.
Team news
Again, squads haven’t been announced yet, but Hull KR will definitely be without Rhyse Martin, wjo picked up a suspension earlier this week. Jared Waerea-Hargreaves is back from his own ban though. Micky McIlorum and Lee Kershaw are both ruled out through injury. Sauaso Sue could make his comeback.
Hull FC are already missing big names Will Pryce, John Asiata, Liam Knight and Jed Cartwright for the rest of the year through injury, while Herman Ese’ese is the latest doubt after picking up a knock against Leeds. Ed Chamberlain, Cade Cust and Liam Watts also suffered injuries in that game, so will be doubts ahead of this one.
My prediction – Hull KR 36-10 Hull FC
Even though it’s a derby and these games are usually tight, I can see the Robins making relatively light work of this. Much of that is down to the Black and Whites’ crippling injury list, but that aside, Hull KR will love nothing more than getting one hand on the League Leaders’ Shield and denting their rivals’ chances of making the play-offs at the same time.
Betting tips
Hull KR are just 1/20 to win this, and the handicap’s set at -22, both of which are enormous for this derby. The -22 should be safe, but given that it is a derby, I won’t be touching it as FC could get within that margin. Instead, it’ll be another anytime tryscorer double, and Joe Burgess and Tom Davies will be on my betslip for the home side.
