Super League 2025 – Round 14 preview, predictions and tips

Super League 2025 – Round 14 preview, predictions and tips

Super League retuuns this week after a break for the Challenge Cup Final, and it’s full steam ahead to the finish now.

We’re offically into the second half of the season (which is mind-boggling to me), and the battle for the top six is heating up.

There’s no Thursday night game this week, so let’s jump straight into Friday night’s game, and the new cup winners, Hull KR…

*All odds are taken from Paddy Power and correct at time of writing on 12/6/2025. There are no try scoring markets open at present for some reason, so it’s hard to say where the value will be.

Right now though, I’m tipping Lewis Martin for an anytime try for Hull FC, Jai Field for an anytime try for Wigan Warriors, and Lachlan Walmsley for an anytime try for Wakefield Trinity. Be warened though, the odds may be very low, especially for Field.

Friday 13th June – Hull KR vs Catalans Dragons – Sewell Group Craven Park

Form guide

The Robins are on top of the world after ending their long wait for a major trophy last weekend. Their 8-6 win over Warrington Wolves at Wembley secured a first Challenge Cup since 1980. They’re still top of Super League too, with just one defeat in their opening 13 games, as they sit two points clear of 2nd-placed Wigan.

In complete contrast, the Dragons are in freefall. They’ve lost four straight games, and they haven’t even scored a point in their last three. A permanent coach has yet to be appointed either, so Joel Tomkins remains in caretaker charge. They’re 9th in the table, four points off the play-offs, but looking a million miles off them on current form.

Team news

Hull KR coach Willie Peters confirmed in the week that Kiwi prop Jared Waerea-Hargreaves was playing through the pain barrier at Wembley, and he’ll be out for the next month. Michael McIlorum was also rushed back for the cup final and he drops out this week. Joe Burgess is also missing from the cup final squad. Leon Ruan and Noah Booth come in, as does Arthur Mourgue, who was cup-tied for Wembley.

Catalans Dragons are boosted by the returns of Sam Tomkins, Tevita Pangai Jr, Julian Bousquet, Tariq Sims, Bayley Sironen and Léo Darrélatour this weekend.

My prediction – Hull KR 34-10 Catalans Dragons

I’m usually reluctant to back the cup winners a week after Wembley, but such has been Rovers’ dominance this year, that I can’t see them taking their eye off the ball. They couldn’t have wished for many better opponents either, but I can see Catalans breaking their points drought at least.

Betting tips

Hull KR should be safe with a -18 handicap, at 10/11.

Friday 13th June – Hull FC vs Castleford Tigers – MKM Stadium

Form guide

The Black and Whites are back at home this weekend after four straight games on the road, including victories in their last two. The most recent of those was a 0-34 demolition of Catalans Dragons, which has lifted FC into 5th, a point clear of 7th-placed Wakefield.

Castleford put up a good fight but ultimately came up short in their last game, losing 34-24 at Warrington. That made it back-to-back defeats for the Tigers, who remain 10th, with three wins from their opening 13 games.

Team news

Hull FC have made one change to the 21-man squad from the Catalans game and it’s a big one. Will Pryce is ruled out with a hamstring injury, so Will Gardiner comes into the squad.

Castleford have made four changes to their squad, with Tex Hoy, Judah Rimbu, Hugo Salabio and Josh Hodson all dropping out. Muizz Mustapha and Tom Amone are back from injury, along with Sam Wood and Will Tate.

My prediction – Hull FC 20-12 Castleford Tigers

I don’t expect the Black and Whites to have things all their own way against a Tigers side who have shown signs of improvement over the past month or so, but they’ll be kicking themselves if they don’t pick up a home win here.

Betting tips

I’m backing Hull FC to win by 8-14 points, at 3/1.

Saturday 14th June – Huddersfield Giants vs Wigan Warriors – Flair Stadium

Form guide

The Giants gave it a real good go in their last outing against Leigh, but ultimately fell short in a 24-28 home loss. That made it 12 defeats from 13 games in Super League, with only Salford below them in the table.

Wigan, meanwhile, coasted to a 6-46 win at Salford in Round 13. That made it eight straight victories as they continue to sit firmly in 2nd.

Team news

Adam Swift has dropped out of the Huddersfield squad from last time out, but Matty English returns. Jacob Gagai is also named after missing the Leigh game, as he was back in Australia for family reasons.

Wigan have made just one change to their squad from the win over Salford. Tom Forber returns in place of Kian McDermott. New boy Christian Wade is being kept on ice for the time being, with at least one more game in the reserves before he’s unleashed on Super League.

My prediction – Huddersfield Giants 6-44 Wigan Warriors

Anything other than a comfortable Wigan win would be a big surprise here. Even if Huddersfield can push them closer than this, it’s hard to see them picking up the two points.

Betting tips

Wigan should be comfortable with a -22 handicap, at 10/11.

Saturday 14th June – Leeds Rhinos vs Warrington Wolves – AMT Headingley

Form guide

Leeds have been very impressive in recent weeks and they’ve slowly crept up the table without too many people noticing. They edged past Wakefield, 22-18, in their last game, but that made it six wins from their past seven, and they deservedly sit in 3rd.

As fo Warrington, they were desperately unlucky to lose the cup final to Hull KR last weekend and their Super League form has been patchy to say the least. Still, they beat Castleford 34-24 in their last league game, and they’re just two points shy of the top six.

Team news

Andy Ackers is back for Leeds Rhinos this week, having been missing since March. Alfie Edgell also returns for the first time since Magic Weekend in early May. Ethan Clark-Wood and Presley Cassell make way.

Warrington have made just one change to the cup final squad. Fullback Matt Dufty is missing witha fractured eye socket, so Tom Whitehead comes in.

My prediction – Leeds Rhinos 18-6 Warrington Wolves

I’m fully expecting a cup final hangover for the Wire this week, and Leeds should be sniffing blood here and taking full advantage.

Betting tips

I’m backing Leeds to win by 8-14 points, at 10/3.

Sunday 15th June – Wakefield Trinity vs Leigh Leopards – DIY Kitchens Stadium

Form guide

Wakefield were narrowly beaten 22-18 by Leeds in Round 13, but their three straight wins leading into that game saw them firmly in the play-off picture. They currently sit 7th, but they’re level on points with 6th-placed St Helens in the battle for the top six.

Leigh just about squeezed past Huddersfield in their last game, but their own wobbles appear to be firmly behind them. It’s five wins in seven for the Leopards, who sit 4th – three points inside the play-off spots.

Team news

The squads haven’t been announced yet, but Wakefield are expected to be without the likes of Renouf Atoni, Caleb Hamlin-Uele, Ky Rodwell and Matty Storton, who all have long-term injuries. Forward Isaac Shaw was also released earlier this week.

Caius Faatili has been in outstanding form for Wakefield recently.

David Armstrong and Frankie Halton both made their Leigh comebacks in the win over Huddersfield and should be available again. Ethan O’Neill’s likely to still be missing with a fractured cheekbone.

Frankie Halton impressed on his Leigh comeback against Huddersfield.

My prediction – Wakefield Trinity 18-22 Leigh Leopards

On paper, this could be the closest of all the Super League games this weekend and it looks too close to call. I’m tipping the Leopards to nick it, but this one could go either way.

Betting tips

Wakefield are slight favourites for this game, so the 11/10 on a Leigh win looks good to me.

Sunday 15th June – Salford Red Devils vs St. Helens – Salford Stadium

Form guide

Salford’s misery continued in Round 13, although they put in a spirited display against a Wigan side who simply had too much for them. The 6-46 loss made it eight straight defeats for the rock-bottom Red Devils.

Saints’ struggles are mild by comparison, but a 34-4 defeat at Hull KR in their last outing emphasised the gulf in class between the two sides right now. St. Helens remain just inside the top six though, level on points with 7th-placed Wakefield.

Team news

Squads haven’t been announced yet, but Salford coach Paul Rowley has confirmed that Nene Macdonald will be missing again. The PNG international has returned to Australia for the forseeable future and it’s doubtful as to whether he’ll pull on a Salford shirt again. Chris Hill, Shane Wright and Joe Mellor could all make their comebacks though.

Nene Macdonald may have played his last game for Salford.

Things aren’t getting any easier for St. Helens, meanwhile, with news this week that Mark Percival will be out for around five to six weeks. Jack Welsby and Lewis Murphy have also been ruled out for significant periods of time since the last game, while Konrad Hurrell has gone out on loan to Bradford Bulls this week.

Konrad Hurrell has departed for Bradford Bulls this week, initially on loan.

My prediction – Salford Red Devils 6-38 St. Helens

Even with some big players missing, Saints should have far too much for this Salford side. Under-pressure coach Paul Wellens couldn’t have picked a better opponent to be playing against this week, and they should be boosting their points difference in this one.

Betting tips

There are no markets at all on this game yet, but Saints with a -28 handicap should be a minimum here.
