Rugby League preview, predictions and betting tips – 26th to 29th March
I’m away this week, my internet connection is dreadful and I don’t have access to any betting apps where I am…however, I’m commited to putting my weekly previews together in at least a hugely slimmed down version, espeically with it being Super League’s 30th birthday this week.
I’ll jump straight to some of the headlines for the NRL and Super League, as well as the all important betting tips (although forgive me for having no odds available)
NRL team news
The big news this week comes out of Parramatta, where Eels forward J’maine Hopgood has been ruled out for the season with an ACL injury.
The Roosters welcome back Billy Smith from concussion, Luke Metcalf makes his comeback for the Warriors after a long time out with an ACL, and Jock Madden will make his second debut for the Tigers in place of the injured Jarome Luai.
Adam Reynolds is back for the Broncos, but Payne Haas is ruled out. The Knights welcome Fletcher Sharpe back for his first game since Vegas, while the Cowboys have lost Tom Chester to a one-game ban.
Briton Nikora is ruled out for the Sharks with a broken nose, while Toby Couchman and Ryan Couchman are both missing for the Dragons.
NRL betting tips
Again, apologies for the lack of odds, but here are some of the things I’ll be backing when I’m back on UK soil and on the betting apps again…
- Leka Halasima anytime try
- Cronulla Sharks to win (up to -6 handicap)
- Melbourne Storm to win (up to -10 handicap)
- Sua Fa’alogo anytime try
- Thomas Jenkins anytime try
- Bulldogs to win (up to -8 handicap)
Super League team news
St Helens have Joe Shorrocks back from suspension and Daryl Clark back from concussion, but George Whitby is ruled out after failing his HIA last week.
Tom Forber could make his Castleford Tigers debut after arriving on loan from Wigan, but Joe Stimson will miss out for Cas after failing his HIA last week.
Catalans Dragons lost Josh Allen and Julian Bousquet to HIAs last week, so they’re ruled out. Mathieu Laguerre and Lewis Dodd both picked up injuries and could also be missing.
Super League betting tips
- Wigan Warriors win (up to -40 handicap)
- Liam Marshall anytime try
- Zach Eckersley anytime try
- Warrington Wolves win (up to -6 handicap)
Apologies for the shortened version this week for both competitions. I’ll be back next week with the usual previews.
