Huddersfield Giants 2026 season preview
2025 recap
There were very few positives for the Giants in 2025, as they fell well short of the play-off places. They had nine straight losses to start the year, which meant they faced an uphill battle from that point.
They ultimately finished 16 points shy of the top six, and their seven wins were only enough to secure 10th place in the table.
2025 position: 10th
Key signings
Niall Evalds (Hull KR), Mathieu Cozza (Wakefield), Chris Patolo (Manly Sea Eagles), Asher O’Donnell (Brisbane Tigers), Olly Russell (Wakefield)
Key departures
Leroy Cudjoe (Retirement), Jake Bibby (Oldham), Jack Bibby (Widnes Vikings), Aidan McGowan (Newcastle Thunder), Elliot Wallis (London Broncos), Oliver Wilson (Wigan), Ashton Golding (TBC)
Players to watch
Niall Evalds will be looking to make up for lost time after an injury-hit 2025. The fullback arrived just a few weeks into the campaign, but was struck down on his debut, and he only made one further appearance. If he’s fit and firing heading into 2025, the Giants should start pushing up the table.
The Giants’ forward pack will be beefed up by the arrival of Chris Patolo this year. The 17-stone prop featured 27 times in the NRL during a four-year spell at the Bulldogs, before heading to Manly in 2025, where he failed to make an appearance. Still, Super League has been a home for plenty of under-the-radar players from Down Under in the past, and the 24-year-old could be the latest to make a name for himself here.
Young gun
George Flanagan had a breakout campaign last season, but at just 21, he’s still very much a young gun. Niall Evalds’ long-term injury gave him plenty of opportunities, and it’ll be interesting to see how he’s used this year with Evalds now available again.
Our prediction – 12th
I just can’t see the Giants improving much this year. They were hit hard by injuries in 2025, but even with a fully-fit squad, I’m not convinced they’re going to climb the table, and they haven’t made any notable signings in the off-season.
