Super League 2026 – Magic Weekend preview, predictions and tips
It’s one of – if not the best – weekends of the year this weekend as Magic Weekend comes to Everton’s Hill Dickinson Stadium for the first time.
I genuinely can’t wait for all six games, which kicks off with the bottom two on Saturday lunchtime before finishing with 3rd vs 5th in the Wigan vs Saints derby on Sunday afternoon.
And don’t forget, the all-French clash across the channel on Saturday night.
What a weekend it promises to be! Here’s how I see it going…

Saturday 4th July – Huddersfield Giants vs York Knights
Form guide
The Giants were desperately unlucky to go down 29-23 to Wakefield last weekend, but ultimately their ninth straight loss left them four points adrift at the bottom of the table.
Just above them are York, who picked up an impressive 20-14 win at Castleford. A win this weekend could see the Knights go as high as 10th.

My prediction – Huddersfield Giants 12-18 York Knights
It’s not a huge shock to see Magic Weekend kicking off with the bottom two sides, but this could be a much better game than it looks on paper. I can’t separate these two, but my gut’s eding me towards the Knights in this one. Nine straight losses tells its own story for Huddersfield, although their last victory came against York.
Betting tips
The Giants are heavy favourites, so I’m going straight for a York win at 15/8. I’m going for a big one to kick off the weekend too. Draw/York in the half-time/full-time market, which is 22/1.
Saturday 4th July – Hull KR vs Hull FC
Form guide
Hull KR haven’t matched the standard they set in 2025 so far, and their 34-8 loss at Leeds last weekend was a fifth for the year. They sit 6th – just two points inside the play-off spots.
Hull FC were unlucky to go down 20-16 to Wigan last week, but that loss leaves them in 10th – 10 points behind their biggest rivals, KR.

My prediction – Hull KR 36-14 Hull FC
I’m expecting a big response from the Robins after last week’s heavy defeat at Leeds. The Black and Whites will put up a fight as they always do in the derby, but I’d be surprised if KR don’t win this one.
Betting tips
Hull KR have been given a -14 handicap, which should be ok. I’ll back Joe Burgess for an anytime try when the market opens as well.
Saturday 4th July – Leigh Leopards vs Warrington Wolves
Form guide
The Leopards have clicked into gear after a slow start to the year and they’re hot on the heels of the top six. Their 40-16 win in Toulouse last week was a fourth win in their last five games.
Warrington, meanwhile tightened their grip on 2nd with a narrow 18-16 win over Catalans Dragons last week. It was the Wire’s seventh win in their last eight games.

My prediction – Leigh Leopards 24-18 Warrington Wolves
I don’t normally get swayed by the bookies’ odds, but with the number of players Warrington have missing, I can see why they’re backing the Leopards. I still think this could go either way, but with a stronger squad to choose from, I’m edging towards Leigh here.
Betting tips
I’ll be backing Josh Charnley and Umyla Hanley for anytime tries when the market opens. I don’t trust the -8 handicap Leigh have been given, and this ine of the more unpredictable games of the weekend for me.
Saturday 4th July – Catalans Dragons vs Toulouse Olympique
Form guide
The Dragons’ form has picked up recently with two wins in their past three, but they were narrowly beaten 18-16 by Warrington last week. They remain 8th – four points off the top six.
Toulouse’s 40-16 loss at home to Leigh last week was theur third straight defeat, and they remain down in 12th.

My prediction – Catalans Dragons 30-16 Toulouse Olympique
I’m expecting the Dragons to get the job done in this one. They’ve found some form recently and Toulouse are still getting to grips with Super League again.
Betting tips
Catalans should be fine with a -10 handicap, which is 10/11. I’m backing Solomona Faataape for an anytime try as well when the market opens.
Sunday 5th July – Wakefield Trinity vs Castleford Tigers
Form guide
Wakefield scraped past Huddersfield last weekend in a 29-23 win, but it was enough to lift them up to 4th.
Castleford’s 20-14 loss at home to York means they remain in 9th – eight points off the play-off spots.

My prediction – Wakefield Trinity 32-14 Castleford Tigers
With Wakefield pushing for a Grand Final this year and Castleford hovering in the bottom half of the table, the Trinity should pick up the two points here without too much fuss.
Betting tips
Wakefield should be ok with a -14 handicap, which is 10/11. I’ll back Tom Johnstone for an anytime try when the market opens as well.
Sunday 5th July – Leeds Rhinos vs Bradford Bulls
Form guide
The Rhinos continue to set the pace at the top of Super League, and their impressive 34-8 demolition of Hull KR last week was a fifth straight win.
After a tight first half, Bradford were overwhelmed by St Helens last week, as they went down 40-10 at home. The Bulls remain 11th.

My prediction – Leeds Rhinos 40-8 Bradford Bulls
Anything other than a comfortable Leeds win would be a surprise here.

None of the odds are looking too great here, so I’ll back Maika Sivo and Jack Bird for anytime tries when the market opens.
Sunday 5th July – Wigan Warriors vs St Helens
Form guide
Wigan’s impressive form continued last weekend as they made it six wins out of seven in Super League, although they were pushed all the way by Hull FC in a 20-16 victory. The Warriors have climbed into 3rd on the table.
St Helens had an impressive 40-10 win at Bradford to make it back-to-back wins after three straight losses. They sit in 5th – level on points with Wigan.

My prediction – Wigan Warriors 28-10 St Helens
Despite all the players they have missing, I have a feeling Wigan will turn up and turn it on again this weekend. Saints haven’t looked overly convincing against the best teams and I can see them getting overwhelmed here.

I’m not loving any of the available markets right now, so I’ll back Jai Field and Zach Eckersley for anytime tries when the market opens.
