Super League 2025 – Round 13 preview, predictions and tips

We’re just about at the halfway stage in Super League, which quite frankly is mind-blowing. It only feels like we started about two weeks ago, yet here we are already heading into the business end of the season.
Hull KR and Wigan Warriors look miles ahead of everyone else, but there’s plenty of time for some twists and turns, and with the cup final taking over next week, this weekend’s the perfect opportunity for a few sides to play their way back into form before a week off…

Thursday 29th May – Huddersfield Giants vs Leigh Leopards – John Smith’s Stadium
Form guide
Huddersfield’s sorry season continued last week, as they went down 4-46 at home to St. Helens. It’s just one win from their opening 12 games for the Giants, who sit second-bottom on points difference.
Leigh were also beaten in Round 12, which made it three straight defeats in all competitions. They’re still in a strong position for a play-off push though, sitting 4th in the table.
Team news
New signing Tristan Powell goes straight into the Huddersfield squad after arriving from Australia in the past week. Matty English, Aidan McGowan, Fenton Rogers, Jack Murchie, Liam Sutcliffe and Niall Evalds are all still sidelined.
Ethan O’Neill’s missing for Leigh Leopards with a fractured cheekbone, but David Armstrong and Frankie Halton could both make their comebacks this week.
My prediction – Huddersfield Giants 6-24 Leigh Leopards
I’m fully expecting the Leopards to bounce back from their recent wobble this week. If they could handpick an opponent, the Giants would be a close second to Salford, so a comfortable away win should be a formality.
Betting tips
Leigh are 1/1 with a -10 handicap, which I’m jumping straight on. I’m backing Tesi Niu in the anytime try scorer market too, at 5/4.
Friday 30th May – Hull KR vs St. Helens – Sewell Group Craven Park
Form guide
It was more of the same from Hull KR in Round 12, as they saw off cup final opponents Warrington 12-31 in a Wembley dress rehearsal. That made it 11/12 wins in Super League so far, as they continue to lead the table.
Saints had a much-needed 4-46 win against Huddersfield last time out. That’s left them in 5th, with a 7-5 record.
Team news
Hull KR coach Willie Peters has resisted the temptation to rest players ahead of Wembley next week, as Rovers chase a first League Leaders Shield. There’s just one change to last weekend’s squad with AJ Wallace replacing Lee Kershaw.
Matt Whitley and Harry Robertson return for St. Helens this week, with Jon Bennison and Jake Davies dropping out of the squad.
My prediction – Hull KR 20-12 St. Helens
The Robins won’t have it all their own way against a Saints side who are better than their league position suggests, but there’s still only one team I’d back against Hull KR right now, and that’s Wigan.
Betting tips
I’m backing Hull KR with a -6 handicap at 10/11. They’re the same price in the half-time/full-time market as well, and I’d be getting behind that too.
Friday 30th May – Salford Red Devils vs Wigan Warriors – Salford Community Stadium
Form guide
Salford have been setting all sorts of records this season and not for the right reasons. Last weekend’s 72-10 loss at Wakefield handed Trinity their biggest ever win in Super League, and it made it 11/12 losses for the Red Devils this year. They’re still yet to crack 100 points after 12 rounds, as well.
Wigan’s relentless march continued, meanwhile, as they destroyed Catalans Dragons, 0-48, in Perpignan. That made it seven straight wins in Super League – a run which started with a 54-0 rout of Salford back in March.
Team news
Joe Bullock is back for Salford this week after a loan spell at Barrow. He replaces Harvey Makin, who’s been recalled by Wigan ahead of this game. Youngster Sam Hill is also named, having impressed in the academy side this year.
Wigan suffered two big blows in France last weekend, with Sam Walters and Luke Thompson both picking up injuries. Harvey Makin and Kian McDermott are the replacements this week.
My prediction – Salford Red Devils 0-64 Wigan Warriors
This could be an absolute bloodbath quite frankly, and 0-64 may be a conservative estimate. I had a feeling Wigan might rest some players for this one, but with no game next week they’re going for the jugular as they look to boost their points difference in the battle for the League Leaders Shield. There’s close to zero chance of Salford winning this game, it’s just a question of how many they lose by.
Betting tips
As is the norm nowadays with Salford games, there aren’t any open markets yet, but hopefully there will be nearer kick-off. You can probably fill your boots on any of Wigan’s back five to score an anytime try and I imagine there’ll be at least a -48 handicap, which should be safe.
Friday 30th May – Warrington Wolves vs Castleford Tigers – Halliwell Jones Stadium
Form guide
Injury-ravaged Warrington suffered a 12-31 home loss to cup final opponents Hull KR last weekend – their third straight loss. They’re down in 9th in the table, four points off the play-off spots, and in serious danger of missing out.
As for Castleford, they were beaten 6-29 by Leeds Rhinos to leave them in 10th, which is where they’ll more than likely stay for the remainder of the year.
Team news
Warrington welcome back five big names this week with Toby King, Paul Vaughan, Lachlan Fitzgibbon, Marc Sneyd and Sam Powell all in contention to play. Oli Leyland is ruled out after picking up an injury last weekend, and there’s no place for Connor Wrench. Stefan Ratchford will make his 350th appearance for the club of he’s selected.
Tom Amone misses out for Castleford after failing a HIA against Leeds, while Sam Wood is also out with a shoulder injury. Andy Djeukessi and Muizz Mustapha also drop out of last week’s 21-man squad. Judah Rimbu, George Griffin, Josh Hodson and George Hill are the replacements.
My prediction – Warrington Wolves 28-10 Castleford Tigers
With some big names back in the mix, I’m backing the Wire to bounce back with a win this week. With Wembley places up for grabs and a play-off place looking in the balance, they need a victory, and against a team with only three of their own, they should have enough.
Betting tips
I like the look of Warrington with a -8 handicap at 10/11. I’m also backing them to win by 15+, which is 7/4.
Saturday 31st May – Leeds Rhinos vs Wakefield Trinity – AMT Headingley Stadium
Form guide
The Rhinos revival is in full swing, with five wins from their past six games. That form has Leeds up in 3rd, as they look to cement a play-off spot.
Wakefield are in pretty good form themselves, and even picked up a record-breaking win last week, 72-10 against Salford. We shouldn’t read too much into that, but it made it three straight wins, and they remain inside the top six.
Team news
Squads haven’t been announced yet, so there’s no Leeds Rhinos news yet.
As for Wakefield, Tom Johnstone limped off in the first half last weekend, so it’s touch and go as to whether he’s available this week.
My prediction – Leeds Rhinos 18-14 Wakefield Trinity
This could be the match of the round in my opinion. Both sides are in good form and they’re local rivals, which adds a bit of spice to the fixture. This could go either way, but I’m backing the Rhinos to edge it at home.
Betting tips
Leeds have a -10 handicap, which looks a bit strong to me. Therefore, I’m backing Wakefield with a +10 handicap at 10/11. The try scoring market isn’t open yet, but when it is, I’m backing Caius Faatili for an anytime try. The bulky prop has been on fire in recent weeks for Trinity, and you should still get good odds on him.
Saturday 31st May – Catalans Dragons vs Hull FC – Stade Gilbert Brutus
Form guide
It’s been a disastrous few weeks for the Dragons, who have been nilled in their last two Super League games, lost a Challenge Cup semi-final and sacked their coach. They sit 8th in the table – four points off the play-offs.
Hull have had their own struggles in recent weeks, but got a big boost with a 12-26 win at Leigh last time out. That victory has them sitting in 7th, just a point outside the play-off places.
Team news
The squads haven’t been named for this one yet, but interim Catalans coach Joel Tomkins confirmed earlier this week that that Nick Cotric and Tommy Makinson could return this week, which would be a big boost.
John Asiata will definitely miss Hull FC’s trip to France this week, but the extent of his hmastring injury is yet to be determined. Cade Cust is 50/50 after being forced off with injury last week, but Jordan Rapana will return from a concussion.
My prediction – Catalans Dragons 10-22 Hull FC
I can’t see the Dragons being nilled for a third straight week, but that’s about as good as it’ll get for them. If Hull are serious about a play-off push, they should be sniffing blood in this one.
Betting tips
Incredibly the Dragons are favourites in this one, so I’m backing Hull FC all day long at 11/10. They might not be in great form themselves, but the Dragons are in complete disarray, so I’m struggling to make a case for them.
