The Melbourne Storm was admitted to the new National Rugby League competition in 1998 at the tail end of the Super League war. Under the coaching of Chris Anderson, the Storm were an immediate success. Craig Bellamy later took over the head coaching role and has kept the club near the top of the premiership for over a decade.
